Must Pack

I’m about to pack as I’m heading to Germany tomorrow. I will be attending the Easter training event for rhoerads. This should be awesome. The instructor that is organising it is Wolfgang.

I was lucky enough to train in Chicago with Wolfgang last summer. Very professional and talented guy.

I will update on return.

New Weekly Taster Session starting Easter Monday

The Torwood wheelers club will be starting a taster session from the 9th April, Easter Monday 8:00 - 9:00pm.

Rhoenrad (AKA: wheel, German Wheel or Wheel Gymnastics) is cross between dance, gymnastics, performance and circus. They can be seen performing at the best circuses around the world.

Our experienced coaches will be on hand to help you progress quickly. German wheel is an easy sport to pick up and in no time you will be amazing yourself and everyone else.

Rhoenrads are a fantastic exercise promoting flexibility, body tone strength and agility.

All you need to bring is yourself and secure shoes. Trainers are fine, tennis shoes like Dunlop Green flash or Converse all-stars ideal.

We have a minimum age of 16.

Where: Rendlesham sports centre, Near Woodbridge, Suffolk
When: Mondays 8-9pm – Starting Easter Monday - 9th April
Cost: It will cost no more than £3:50 per session, dropping if there is more demand.

Initially we have planned 4 sessions, we will continue the sessions if they are popular.
Alternatively you could call in on our club night, every Friday 8-9pm.
Make the most of the opportunity to start learning a new fun and unusual sport.

The Background

I’ve just realised that I haven’t explained anything about the club, who we are, what we are doing or what “wheels” are!!!

First an introduction, my name is James, a member of Torwood Wheelers. Torwood is the only UK based club practising the unusual (in England anyway) activity/sport/pursuit of Rhönrads.

Rhönrads are large metal wheels, also know as German Wheel or Gymnastic Wheel. For more information visit our club website http://www.rhoenrad.co.uk/

My aim is to increase awareness of this fantastic sport in the UK.

Stay tuned, more to come.

Grant Success

My first post is to report the great news of receiving a grant for the club. I applied for £250 from the BT community Champions last month. Today I received a cheque for £125. Not the full amount but very welcome.

It was satisfying writing the application, a short summary of our clubs great achievements. I may post the details at a later stage.
